Blog Journal #8
One new skill I learned from the web design assignment is how to add Google calender events onto a website. For a teacher's purposes, this is a great tool for keeping parents and students up to date on assignments and other school and classroom events. Another skill I learned was how to add Google forms into a website, which I think would make it easier for teachers to get forms to parents and students, as well as easier for parents and students to find. Here's a link to my website! https://sites.google.com/view/missreysfourthgrade/home
From using Diigo, some new skills I've learned have been sharing and finding educational resources. I think Diigo is great for sharing links to resources to others and I like how it gives you the ability to tell others what the website is all about before they visit it. This way you have access to websites that have already been reviewed by people you trust. I've also learned more about discussion posts through Diigo.
It's so important for teacher's to be up to date with technology, especially technology they are using in their classrooms. When I was a student and say teachers struggling with technology that I grew up with, I wasn't thinking about how they didn't grow up with it, and I'm sure as a teacher I'll get the same thoughts from my students, which makes me determined to stay up to date. I also think that schools should be responsible for training their teachers on both new and old technology. The US Department of Educational Technology has a website which talks about new technologies being introduced into classrooms. Here's the link to check it out yourself! https://tech.ed.gov/
Thank for the resource you added in your last paragraph! I'll definetely be checking in on it in the future. I like that you found a way to incorporate Google Forms into your website, instead of just Calendar.
